A state-of-the-art courthouse has been opened and given over for administrative use in Asesewa in the Eastern Region by the Judicial Service in partnership with the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly.
The building, which was paid for by the District Assemblies Common Fund, includes the magistrate’s residence and is connected to a solar panel and a backup plant to provide an ongoing supply of electricity.
The building is one of many contemporary courthouses built recently across the nation as part of judicial reforms to support and bring effective justice delivery to the people.
An effective and functional court is one of the essential requirements for a thriving democracy, according to Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Anin Yeboah, who opened the facility. He was certain that the building heralds a new age in which the nation’s dearth of courthouses in sufficient numbers to meet the needs of the populace in the area of justice will be consigned to history.
He claims that with the assistance of the government, the judicial system will put an end to the terrible condition of the current physical infrastructure, as well as the use of outdated tools and technology to run the courts.
The magistrate and several members of the court staff were cautioned by Chief Justice Yeboah, who emphasised that their work serves the needs of both the court’s users and the general public.
Consequently, if they want to advance and keep the service’s positive reputation, they must conduct themselves in a highly professional manner while performing their duties. He also requested the District Assembly to ensure that the building is properly maintained every day for the duration of its useful life.
Chief Justice Yeboah issued warnings to the magistrate and a number of court employees, emphasising that their work meets the demands of both the court’s users and the wider public.
Therefore, they must act in a very professional manner while carrying out their duties if they hope to advance and maintain the service’s good reputation. Additionally, he asked the District Assembly to see to it that the building is regularly maintained throughout the entire time it is in use.
Nene Sakite II, the Konor of Manya Krobo Traditional Area and President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, expressed his gratitude to the government for providing the area with the new courthouse, which will facilitate the efficient administration of justice and aid to resolve a number of people’s legal concerns.
