Andrew Clocanas, the contractor behind the contentious Saglemi Affordable Housing Project, is said to have passed away in his Airport Residential unit.
According to reports, on Saturday, October 21, his remains were discovered in his bathroom under a shower. Since then, the Lashibi Funeral Home has received the lifeless body.
The Ghana Police Service visited his flat to question certain people while they were conducting investigations into his death.
A trial is being held for Clocanas and other individuals who are accused of causing financial harm to the state.
Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, Executive Chairman of Construtora OAS Ghana Limited (4th Accused), Nouvi Tetteh Angelo, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Ridge Management Solutions Ghana Limited (5th Accused), and Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, a former Minister of Water Resources, Works, and Housing, are the other accused individuals.
They are on trial on 70 counts related to the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.
It is alleged that they intentionally cost the state more than $200 million that was authorized for the project.
All of them have entered not guilty pleas and been given bail.
Prosecutors had earlier informed the court that they planned to summon five witnesses to testify in the case. It was anticipated that the witness evidence-in-chief and the defense’s cross-examination would take 1,952 hours to complete.
