The Ghana Football Association has been praised for taking the initiative in sacking Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.
Following Ghana’s elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the GFA stated on Tuesday, January 23, 2023, that Chris Hughton and the whole technical team of the Black Stars will be dismissed.
“The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect,” a statement from the GFA said.
“The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.
“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars, the FA said in a statement.
On social media, the GFA has been hailed for sacking Chris Hughton, with some Ghanaians believing the coach demonstrated extreme ineptitude in Ivory Coast.
However, a sizable proportion of Ghanaians feel that GFA members should quit to enable for a restructuring of Ghana football.
They believe that the GFA are equally culpable in the misfortunes that have plagued Ghana football and therefore ought to pave the way for others.
