Kwesi Pratt Jnr, an ace journalist, has questioned why Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is not free to pick his running mate.
Over ten New Patriotic Party (NPP) kingpins are allegedly pushing to be Bawumia’s running partner. The same is true for regional groupings such as NPP opinion leaders in Greater Accra.
Greater Accra supporters have urged their presidential candidate to select a Ga as his running mate.
Kwesi Pratt, on the other hand, feels that picking a running partner should be based on skill rather than tribalism, condemning such campaigning as “foolishness.”
“Where from such tribalism? Whether the person is a Ga or Frafra what difference does it make? let’s be serious!!! The main criteria should not be where the person is coming from but the capacity to think,” he fumed.
According to him, putting extra pressure on the Vice President “would not assist Bawumia…Why are you treating this man this way; no presidential candidate has been handled this way since 1992. It’s as if Bawumia can’t make his own decisions. We’ve reached the point of dictation; stop.”
Mr Pratt revealed that “the same appears to apply to the NDC; this foolishness has gripped all the parties and it must stop”
Kwesi Pratt was taking part in a panel debate on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning broadcast.
