Legendary Ghanaian dancer Adjetey Sowah claims that hiplife’s creator Reggie Rockstone, who is also a dancer, used to be afraid of him whenever they entered a competition.
On Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, he explained to Kwame Dadzie that his selection of various tunes for performances is what distinguishes him from his peers.
He claimed that because he was the first to do a music mashup, Reggie Rockstone, one of his arch-rivals at the time, was terrified of him.
“It wasn’t just one song that I used but different kinds of music. And that is why Reggie Rockstone was scared of me anytime I used the compilation,” he noted.
Responding to Adjetey Sowah’s claim on Twitter Reggie Rockstone quipped: “He was none to play with but the truth is I beat him and he never beat me on record 😆 the times e go get me I pulled out of competition Hehehehehe.”
The seasoned dancer added that among his rivals back then were Akosua Agyepong, Gabby Adjetey, Don Arthur, and Alex Ofori, in addition to Reggie Rockstone.
He admitted that he earned a lot of money from music since he did not lower his standards while setting his prices.
He said that GH1000 in the 1980s was the largest payment he had received during his career.
After winning multiple national dance contests, Adjetey Sowah won the World Dance Championship in 1986.
