Renowned Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku, has shared his thoughts on why he believes rising star Black Sherif should win the Artiste of the Year award at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Speaking in an interview with TV3 New Day, the ‘Show Them Love’ singer praised Black Sherif for his hard work and dedication to his craft. According to Ras Kuuku, Black Sherif has a higher chance of winning the Artiste of the Year category, but the Reggae song or Reggae Artiste award may be a little harder to clinch due to stiff competition in that category.

Ras Kuuku is also confident about his own chances of winning one of the awards he’s been nominated for in the upcoming VGMA for his album “3 3 & 1 (Miensa Miensa Ne Baako)”. Speaking about the Reggae/Dancehall song category, Ras Kuuku believes that if he doesn’t win the Reggae Artiste of the Year award, the Reggae/Dancehall song will be going to Puom. The musician’s album was nominated for various categories including Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, and Album of the Year.

The VGMA is one of the most anticipated music awards ceremonies in Ghana and seeks to recognize and celebrate the works of Ghanaian musicians who have made significant impacts in the industry. Some of the categories at the VGMA include Highlife Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Hip Hop Song of the Year, and Best Male Vocalist, among others. The event is slated for June 25th and June 26th, 2022.
