As President Akufo-Addo drove around, he was impressed by the police’s presence in the streets and on the roads all in a bid to protect the people. The president pledged his government’s commitment to resourcing the Ghana police service to enable them to carry out their mandate effectively.

The newly commissioned Obo police station is a major departure from the traditional police station set up. It was built with bricks and designed to be more human-friendly, taking up the setting of a banking hall. The station has no counter, allowing police officers to interact with the public in a more relaxed setting.

The station is expected to serve as a model for other police stations across the country, as it is designed to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The new police station is equipped with modern facilities to enhance the work of the police service.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, expressed his appreciation to the president for his support and for commissioning the new police station. He assured the president that the Ghana police service would continue to work hard to maintain law and order in the country.

The Ghana Police Service has come under intense scrutiny in recent times, with calls for reforms to improve their professionalism and effectiveness. The deployment of a massive number of police personnel during the Easter festivities is seen as a step in the right direction to address some of these concerns.

The public is hopeful that the Ghana Police Service will continue to improve their operations to better serve the citizens.
