The Europe Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024. The presbytery, which was created alongside the North America-Australia Presbytery in 2014, was established to oversee the growing number of PCG congregations in Europe, North America, and Australia.
Currently, the Europe Presbytery has oversight of seven districts in Europe and the UK, covering more than 50 congregations, 24 preaching points, and six Global Presbyterian Worship Centres. It has over 7,000 members under the leadership of Rev Abamfo Ofori Atiemo.
The PCG in Europe has grown significantly in size and influence over the years, and the presbytery has become an integral part of the Ghanaian community in Europe. Through regular worship services, Bible studies, and other activities, the presbytery provides spiritual and social support to Ghanaians living in Europe and helps them maintain their faith and cultural identity while living in a foreign land.
To commemorate its 10th anniversary, the presbytery has planned a year-long celebration of events that will showcase the PCG’s traditions, traditional way of worship, and social witness ministry in the various districts and communities. The activities will include street evangelism, a social impact project in Ghana, health talks, musical concerts, choral nights, and traditional day celebrations.
“We envisage a commemoration of the anniversary with a series of memorable and happy events, which we hope will both renew our sense of Christian fellowship and serve as a genuine invitation to all and sundry to share in our joy as we thank God for His faithfulness,” said a representative of the PCG.
The climax of the celebrations will be a thanksgiving service in the UK in 2024. The PCG in Europe and its sister presbytery in North America-Australia are looking forward to the milestone event with great anticipation and enthusiasm.
