Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, has cautioned police officers to avoid engaging in activities that could impede their ability to execute their duties effectively. Speaking at the first quarterly meeting of the Volta Regional Police Ladies Association (POLAS Volta), he stressed that under no circumstance should officers abandon their duty post for religious activities such as all-night prayers or fasting sessions.
DCOP Boadu-Ekumah emphasized that the duty call of a police officer supersedes other considerations, and it is ungodly for an officer to skip duties for church activities or funerals. The core role of the police is to protect life and property, and this responsibility cannot be compromised for any reason. He urged police personnel to execute their duties with patriotism and be well-informed about the law and the dynamics of contemporary society to gain the respect of the public.
The Ghana Police Service is committed to building a strong bond of trust and confidence with the public, and any wayward conduct on the part of an officer will not be tolerated. DCOP Boadu-Ekumah called on police officers to eschew all forms of unprofessional conduct, explaining that hardworking and dedicated officers would not be deprived of the reward due to them.
POLAS Volta President, Superintendent Benedicta Ansah, urged members of the association to support each other and work hard to enhance the image of the Ghana Police Service in the region and Ghana as a whole. The meeting coincided with the inauguration of the social media birthday platform of the association.
The platform aims to foster camaraderie among members and facilitate easy assistance and sharing in times of need. POLAS Volta, which was established a few years ago, boasts members in the Greater Accra and Upper East Police regions as well.
Finally, Superintendent Ansah commended five female police officers in the region for excelling in the recently held highly competitive entrance examination for the Police Academy in Accra. It is important that police officers take their duty seriously and perform it diligently. This will enhance public trust and improve the image of the police service.
For the most part, the duty of a police officer is crucial to the well-being and safety of the community. Therefore, it is essential that police officers prioritize their work over other personal activities. The police should be vigilant and be aware of contemporary society’s dynamics to gain the public’s trust and respect. The POLAS Volta birthday platform is an excellent initiative that encourages members to support each other and share resources during times of need. It is commendable that five female police officers in the region have excelled in their entrance examination, and we hope to see more dedicated officers in the future.
