Ghanaian journalist and blogger, Attractive Mustapha, has made his predictions for the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2023. According to him, Gospel musician Piesie Esther is likely to win the ultimate award of Artiste of the Year due to a number of factors, including her strong campaign towards the awards and the support she has received from the Church of Pentecost and its leadership.

Mustapha noted that Piesie Esther has demonstrated the essence of the award to her career and has worked tirelessly to convince the academy, the public, and the board to endorse her as the 2023 Artiste of the Year. He added that her hit song “W’aye me yie” which she released to mark her 20th anniversary in the music industry has enjoyed massive airplay and seems to resonate well with all manner of people.

For the most part, Mustapha believes that all nominees in the Artiste of the Year category have worked hard under the year of review which credibly earned them the nomination. However, Piesie Esther and Black Sheriff seem to have dominated social media discussions on the awards so far, probably because they had higher coverage of trends and performances than their colleague nominees in the category.

Mustapha also acknowledged that the remaining 40% and 30% power given to the board and the academy respectively will be split among all the eight nominees, including Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Camidoh, Sarkodie, Kidi, King Promise, and Piesie Esther. Nonetheless, he believes that Piesie Esther is likely to secure a larger number of votes out of the 30% slated for the public.

Despite Black Sheriff also campaigning towards winning the Artiste of the Year, Mustapha believes it’s too late for him to win since the academy votes have ended, and there are only a few hours left to end the public and board voting.

In conclusion, it remains to be seen who will emerge as the VGMA Artiste of the Year 2023. However, Mustapha’s predictions have given fans and music enthusiasts something to think about as they await the much-anticipated event.
