Over 1,200 police officers have been dispatched to ensure security during the Kwahu Easter festival in the Eastern Region of Ghana. These officers are drawn from the Headquarters in Accra, the Ashanti Regional Command, and the Eastern regional command.

Their presence is expected to reduce and prevent crime during the entire festive season, as they provide ground and air support. Officers from various police units, such as the Police Form Unit (FPU), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and Special Weapons and Tactical Unit SWAT, as well as the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), have been deployed for this purpose. Additionally, police bike riders are expected to manage traffic along busy roads.

The police officers have been instructed to discharge their duties diligently and with integrity, in keeping with the service badge. The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) will also launch a road safety campaign on Friday, April 7, to ensure safe travel for motorists and to reduce accidents.

To further enhance security, drones will be deployed to increase police presence on the ridge where high-profile dignitaries and diplomats, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are expected to attend events.

This year’s Kwahu Easter festival promises to be a fun-filled event, and it is heartening to know that the police are taking measures to ensure the safety and security of everyone.
