One rescued after fire guts EC guest house

A young girl narrowly escaped a fire at the Electoral Commission (EC) guest house No. 1 in Danyame, near the Christian Court Hotel in Kumasi.

The event happened about 6:36 a.m. on Sunday.

The fire destroyed three of the six bedrooms, leading the guest house’s security guard and residents to deploy a 3kg carbon dioxide extinguisher.

The Regional Headquarters Substation, Metro, KATH, and Manhyia Fire Stations worked together to extinguish the raging flames at 8:22 a.m.

Six television sets, three beds, a meter, four ceiling fans, air conditioners, kitchen equipment, four tables and chairs, and three wardrobes were damaged while the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Meanwhile, the contents of three bedrooms in the guest home were saved by the firemen.

The fireman completed effective extinguishment at 11:13am, led by the Regional Operations Officer, DO II Pokoo Aikins, demonstrating the critical coordinated efforts of the Ashanti Region’s fire stations.
