Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has paid glowing homage to famous lawyer Akoto Ampaw.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe has praised the latter for being a real human rights lawyer and campaigner.
This is in response to Mr Ampaw’s death on Friday, October 20, 2023.
According to family members, he died at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) after a protracted illness.
In an interview with Accra-based TV3, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe disclosed that he had a four-decade connection with the dead.
He recounted that, they embarked on a series of activities together during their active and early days in politics, citing the famous 1995 Kume Preko demo.
“I have known him for close to 40 years; we have done a lot of political activities together. He was a great activist and a true human rights lawyer,” he eulogised.
Anthony Akoto Apaw, was a private legal practitioner and human rights activist popularly known as “Che che”
Akoto Ampaw earned the nickname ‘Che Che’ during his student days at the University of Ghana.
He was also part of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team in the 2013 Election Petition, which challenged the election of President John Dramani Mahama.
