NPP’s Richard Ahiagbah has called on the NDC to ensure a level playing field in its upcoming Presidential Primaries, after Dr Kwabena Duffuor, an NDC Presidential Aspirant, filed an injunction application at the High Court to stop the primaries. Dr Duffuor and his campaign team have raised concerns over the electoral album and claimed that it is incomplete and inaccurate.

A member of the Duffuor campaign team, Kofi Kukubor, had earlier sent a petition to the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) and the Elections Committee of the NDC on May 8, which identified several discrepancies in the voters’ register or photo album for 220 constituencies.

The NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, stated in a tweet that the claims made by Dr Duffuor are compelling, and urged the NDC to ensure a level playing field in the elections. The application by Dr Duffuor seeks to stop the presidential primaries over concerns about the electoral album, as it claims that the partial delivery of the album to his representatives on May 4 was out of time, considering the magnitude of the verification exercise required of them before the internal elections of May 13.

For the most part, Dr Duffuor’s campaign team has demanded the postponement of the Presidential Primaries due to the flawed register. The team has stated that going into the elections with such a register would undermine the credibility and integrity of the election and cause irreparable damage to Dr Kwabena Duffuor’s campaign.

This action could have serious consequences for the NDC’s Presidential Primaries, especially if the issues raised by Dr Duffuor’s campaign team are valid. It is crucial for the NDC to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants and address any concerns raised regarding the electoral album to ensure a fair and credible election.
