Ghanaians are being urged by Justine Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to refrain from politicizing the effort to raise money for the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
He asserts that regardless of party allegiance, there has to be a concerted effort to revitalize the tertiary hospital due to its deteriorating situation.
Serving more than ten areas in Ghana, KATH is now in need of immediate repair due to its declining health.
Healthcare delivery is significantly impacted by the tertiary facility’s inadequate infrastructure, since several crucial devices have malfunctioned.
To address the facility’s problems, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II launched a campaign to gather GH¢10 million.
Speaking following the NPP’s GH¢200,000 donation to the initiative, Frimpong Kodua urged more corporate entities to support the cause.
“The New Patriotic Party as a whole will also come and make our official contribution for this project, and the president will also come and support. At this point, we don’t need to be partisan because health does not matter whether you are NDC or NPP, and so we are calling on our brothers from the NDC and the other parties to support the project.”
Following the contribution, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, called for coordinated efforts to solve the hospital’s issues, with a focus on limited equipment for addressing severe situations such as dialysis machines.
