After the 2024 general elections, the people of Assin Central will undoubtedly have a new face representing them in Ghana’s Parliament, with the 24-year reign of their Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, coming to an end.

Ken Agyapong, true to his words, was not one of the four contenders who picked up nomination forms to contest in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries, which meant that the party would have a new face representing them in the parliamentary election for the constituency for the first time in over 25 years.

Former NPP General Secretary and interim Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) John Boadu was considered to succeed Ken Agyapong after he opted not to run for parliament again after his presidential aspiration.

Kenneth Agyapong Jnr, Ken Agyapong’s son, was also expected to succeed his father. However, neither John Boadu nor Kenneth Agyapong is one of the four individuals who chose the nomination papers for the NPP parliament primaries, which were reviewed on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
