Osei Bonsu Amoah, a member of parliament for the Akuapem South constituency of the New Patriotic Party, has backed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to lead the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2024 general election.
He claimed that the atmosphere and peace in his district make it abundantly evident that Dr. Bawumia is what the party needs to keep hold of power.
During a campaign stop in his district on Monday, August 7, Dr. Bawumia spoke to party members and promised not to let them down.
He claims that they would make sure Dr. Bawumia wins the most votes at the special delegates conference on August 26.
The nomination of Dr. Bawumia for the role of flagbearer has already received the support of several party heavyweights.
“Now, the time has come again for us to elect the next flagbearer for our great party, and you (party faithful) are sending me as your MP and our constituency chairman to go to Koforidua to elect the five that will proceed to the main elections and mostly elect the one that will lead.
“But if I look at the energy, the zeal, the chemistry and preparations and all that is ongoing, the message you have given to us is to go and elect Dr Bawumia.
“So, we will not disappoint you, and on August 26, the news will not be that only Akuapem South that has elected Dr Bawumia but the whole Ghana,” he said.
Daniel Botwe, a member of parliament from Okere and the current Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, is one of them.
He emphasized that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the NPP’s best option in terms of strategy for the elections in 2024.
On Sunday, August 6, Dan Botwe made this statement while speaking to party members in Okere.
Mr. Botwe emphasized his in-depth familiarity with the NPP and its leading leaders while reflecting on his vast experience inside the party.
“When it comes to the future of our beloved country, Ghana, the NPP is the only party that can guarantee progress,” Dan Botwe declared, rallying the crowd.”
“After much thoughtful consideration and careful analysis, I am confident that the best strategic decision for the NPP is to elect Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as our flagbearer,” Botwe asserted, prompting applause from the attendees.
He went on to say that Dr. Bawumia’s track record of competence and unshakable allegiance to the NPP were the driving factors in his decision.
Notably, this open support from a powerful party official like Dan Botwe strengthens Bawumia’s bid for the presidency.
