Kwaku Boateng, the head of the Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana, has expressed confidence that he will defeat the current Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries in the Awutu Senya East seat.
According to him, he will receive 90% of all legitimate votes cast in order to unseat the Fisheries Minister.
Boateng, who is running for the first time, stated that party delegates have told him that they will vote for him overwhelmingly.
He was likewise optimistic of retaining the parliamentary seat for the party he had chosen as its candidate.
He claims that the incumbent MP, Hawa Koomson, who is standing for a fourth term, is in danger of losing her seat to the opposition National Democratic Congress due to her declining popularity.
He has since sent in his nomination papers.
He intends to focus on talent and youth development as part of his campaign plan in order to tap into the potential of the constituency’s young.
Hawa Koomson, who has also submitted her nomination, feels optimistic about her chances.
She has urged delegates to vote for her in large numbers.
She believes she is the finest candidate for the NPP to keep the seat.
