George Oduro, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Edubiase Constituency, has sent in his nomination paperwork to the NPP’s headquarters in order to run in the parliamentary primaries.
After completing the papers, the former deputy minister of agriculture announced in a speech to the party’s followers that his loss in the 2020 elections is history.
He predicts that the ruling party in the district would unquestionably win the upcoming elections in 2024.
He exhorted everyone in the party to forget the errors made in the previous elections that may have cost the party the election.
“Over 9,000 voters did not vote. I accept responsibility for all that might have gone wrong and I’m ready to make amends. Let the slogan be no insult and victory will be ours.”
The convener for the George Oduro fun club, Kofi Ninsin Appiagyei, claimed the former MP put a lot of effort into his job but lost the 2020 elections as a consequence of the same internal disputes in the party.
He said that as a result, his followers organized themselves, sought his advice, and acquired the nomination papers so that he could run in the primary.
“Everybody can attest to the energy and love the supporters have for him and we believe that George Oduro will once again win the seat to be the MP again in 2024,” he said.
After serving one term, Mr. Oduro was defeated in the 2020 elections by Abdul-Salam Adams of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), a first-time candidate.
