Mr. Gideon Boako, the vice president’s spokesperson, asserted that there is solid proof that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been successful in transforming the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) stronghold into a stronghold for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said that Bawumia had turned the NDC’s stronghold into the NPP’s stronghold, and that “the evidence is clear that even as running mate.”
He said that the Vice President’s involvement in these places helped the NPP succeed in boosting its representation in the National Assembly in the Northern region of the country.
“Because the Volta and the Northern area used to be the NDC’s bastion, but as of this writing, the NPP holds just 4 of the 31 parliamentary seats in the Northern regions, while the NDC boasts of 27.
However, through to Bawumia’s tireless efforts, the NPP was able to expand its seats from 4 to 16 following the 2020 election, while the NDC saw a decrease from 27 to 15 seats. In an interview that MyNewsGH.com listened to on Angel FM Kumasi, Dr. Gideon Boako made this statement.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko for the show “Angel in the Morning,” he said that the Vice President had gained a lot of support from the Ashanti Region, the NPP’s stronghold.
He claims that if the NPP nominates him as its presidential candidate, he would be able to win the 2024 presidential elections with ease thanks to the backing of more than 40 MPs and 40 constituency chairmen in the Ashanti Region alone.
