In order to repair the damaged Dekyebu bridge, which serves as a link to the municipal headquarters and other nearby communities in the Oti region, residents of the Nkwanta South Municipality have started working together as a community.
Bright Lenwah, the area’s Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), is working with the program.
Already, two individuals are seeking medical attention at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in Nkwanta South for injuries they got after going over the bridge.
In addition to this, some locals who talked with Adom News claimed the region’s economic activity had been impacted.
They bemoaned the fact that the bridge’s condition had made it impossible for cars to convey products and services in the past, and that the majority of people were unable to get to work.
Therefore, they pleaded with the authorities to urgently fix the bridge so that local economic activity could resume.
In an interview, the MCE, Bright Lenwah, stated that the predicament has caused him nightmares after many attempts to get the necessary authorities to restore the bridge proven fruitless.
The Nkwanta residents were applauded by the MCE for turning out in large numbers to assist in mending the bridge.
