Ruth Kadiri, a celebrity in Nollywood, has resorted to her social media accounts to express her annoyance about the unauthorized screening of her films in Ghana.
Ruth Kadiri addressed the matter head-on in a series of postings on her social media pages, emphasizing that while she is grateful for the love and support her Ghanaian followers have shown her, it is crucial for her to preserve her intellectual property rights as a filmmaker.
Even though she has yet to reap the full financial rewards of her production, she claimed to have seen how certain local stations have been consistently airing her movie.
Ruth claimed that the unauthorized distribution of her films violates both her legal rights and the whole Nollywood industry’s creative efforts.
Ruth Kadiri also claimed that she has not given her consent for her films to be broadcast on Ghanaian TV networks and has not been paid for doing so.
She urged Ghana’s relevant government agencies and organizations to address the problem immediately away and make sure that intellectual property rights are upheld.
The actress vowed to either add watermarks to her work or sue any channels who posted copies of it without permission.
