New Century Technical Institute Emerges Victorious in Zone 1 Interschool Competition

The 2023 Zone 1 Interschool Competition for Technical and Vocational Education and Training schools was a fierce battle among eight schools in Accra. New Century Technical Institute, located in Dansoman, came out on top in all aspects of the sporting disciplines. The other schools in the competition were Accra Technical Training Center (ATTC), Ngleshie Amanfro Technical Institute, South Labone Technical Institute, Kanda Technical Institute, Sacred Heart Technical Institute, Government Technical Institute, and Nima Technical Institute.

New Century Technical Institute dominated the competition, winning six out of eight sporting disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, and football. The girls’ basketball competition was won by Sacred Heart Technical Institute, while the girls’ volleyball competition was also won by New Century Technical Institute.

In the boys’ football final, New Century Technical Institute defeated Kanda Technical Institute with ease, winning 3-0. In the boys’ basketball final, New Century Technical Institute defeated Sacred Heart Technical Institute, while in the boys’ volleyball competition, New Century emerged victorious.

Despite not winning the overall competition, ATTC dominated the track and field events. However, New Century Technical Institute’s dominance in the other disciplines secured their victory.

The chairman of the Zone 1 Sporting Festival for TVET schools, Mr. Ako Dometi, expressed his views on the importance of the games for the students. He stated that sports are an essential aspect of the development of young people. They help build character and promote healthy living. The students who participated in the competition demonstrated high-level performances in various sporting disciplines and showcased their talents.

In a nutshell, New Century Technical Institute’s victory in the 2023 Zone 1 Interschool Competition for Technical and Vocational Education and Training schools highlights the importance of sports in the development of young people. The competition provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and build their character.
