Nene Sakite II Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Enstoolment with Book Launch and Durbar of Chiefs

The Manya Krobo Traditional Area in the Eastern Region of Ghana has launched the 25th-anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of its current Konor, Nene Sakite II. The anniversary will be marked throughout the month of May 2023 and will include various activities such as visits to places of interest in the traditional area, the launch of Nene Sakite’s book, and a grand durbar of chiefs and people of the area.

Nene Sakite II, who is also the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, advised the people of the area to prioritize the education of their children to help them reach their potential and contribute to society. He cited the Education Endowment Fund that he established as a means of supporting students from senior high school to tertiary institutions, with over 1,500 students benefiting from the fund so far.

Over the past 25 years, Nene Sakite II has achieved several significant accomplishments. He established the Education Endowment Fund, brought antiretroviral drugs for the control of HIV/AIDS to Ghana, and secured funding for several educational infrastructure projects, including JHS classroom blocks and a nursing and midwifery school. He also served on several councils and was appointed a Trustee of the GETFund in 2015.

The Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Nene Teye Adjiso, urged the people of the area to participate in the celebration to make it a success, while the Manya Krobo Development queen mother, Manye Agmorkuor Yoko, praised Nene Sakite II for his achievements and called for him to be commended by the people of the traditional area.
