The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it intends to hold Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame responsible for any judgement debt repayments made while he served in that capacity.
The Attorney-General may have authorised the payment of false judgement debts, according to information the party has, the NDC Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi said. This suggests that additional inquiry is necessary.
Sammy Gyamfi remarked, “We will be holding his feet to the fire of accountability very soon,” speaking to the media. We have been aware of his behaviour as Attorney-General, particularly in connection to his advise and recommendations on a few issues involving judgement debt, and in the coming days, we will address the media and subsequently the good people of this nation.
“On these matters, we will present to you unassailable facts concerning the conduct of this Attorney-General and Minister of Justice that is prejudicial to the interests of the state.”
The NDC charged Godfred Dame of prejudice in a statement issued on Thursday, July 6. This accusation was added to a list of instances that the NDC claimed Godfred Dame had prosecuted.
The party demanded that Mr. Dame show the same degree of commitment in pursuing people like the former CEO of Menzgold, NAM1, and the defendants in the JB Danquah murder case, among others, since they believe that their members are being persecuted by the government’s New Patriotic Party.
