The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values has endorsed the seven Members of Parliament who are openly sponsoring the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2021. The Coalition, which comprises various organizations, is praying for the MPs to be retained in their constituencies to continue their “godly” works for their constituencies and the nation.

The Coalition is asking all delegates within the constituencies of the seven MPs to vote massively for them to keep them in their seats as they help steer the passage of the Bill. The Coalition cites Nehemiah 2:18 and Zachariah 4:6-9 as scriptures that encourage them to believe that victory will be secured for the MPs.

The seven MPs are Samuel Nartey George, Emmanuel K. Bedzrah, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamkpor, Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Dela Sowah, and Alhassan S. Suhuyini.

The Coalition referred to the MPs as “our gallant national hero Members of Parliament” and encouraged them to be assured that the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the consuming power of the Holy Spirit will catapult them across the winning line. They believe that with the overwhelming support of their tripartite Coalition, victory will be achieved.

For the most part, the Coalition is urging Ghanaians to support the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2021, which seeks to uphold traditional Ghanaian values and prevent the influence of foreign culture. The Bill proposes the criminalization of LGBTQ+ activities, with a prison sentence of up to 10 years for offenders. The Coalition believes that the Bill will preserve the Ghanaian culture and protect the family values that are the bedrock of society.
