MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications company in Ghana, has invested $25 million in Ghana’s ICT AP to support the country’s digital agenda and empower the youth. Selorm Adadevoh, CEO of MTN Ghana, made this known at the MTN 2023 Media and Stakeholders Forum in Accra. The forum was focused on sharing innovative solutions being churned out by MTN to leverage technology to serve customers with excellence.
Adadevoh reiterated that everyone deserved the benefits of a modern connected world, and the MTN rebrand campaign aimed to outdo themselves. He said putting control in the hands of customers was working for them, and the MTN Foundation had invested over GHS 93 million in social impact projects to touch the lives of about 4.5 million Ghanaians.
Adadevoh announced that MTN was on course to invest one billion dollars in Ghana over the next five years. He also noted that the company was partnering with Vodafone Ghana to promote merchant interoperability, which was quite important for all stakeholders as they continued to drive growth in their merchant footprints to ensure that others could participate in the ecosystem.
According to Adadevoh, MTN in 2022 contributed about four billion Ghana Cedis to Government revenue. He said MTN Ghana’s digital ambition was undergoing big shifts to reach maturity, including process-centric, customer-centric, multiple channels, and omnichannel.
Adadevoh also highlighted that MTN Mobile Money (Momo) had 280,000 agents and over 140,000 active merchants. This shows that the company is committed to promoting financial inclusion and making it easier for Ghanaians to carry out transactions.
For the most part, MTN Ghana’s investment in ICT and commitment to promoting digital inclusion and financial inclusion will go a long way in empowering the youth and driving growth in Ghana’s digital economy.
