Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a key member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was forced to leave a live television event a few years ago after reportedly insulting a fellow panelist during a heated debate.
The event occurred during a Joy News show, NewsFile uploaded by X user @KyeiMeshack, in which Otchere-Darko was a panelist.
The conversation became heated, resulting in a heated argument between him and Dr. Omane Boamah.
The tension in the room is obvious in a video of the incident, as the presenter intervenes and asks Otchere-Darko to leave the set. The argument started when Dr. Omane Boamah stated that J.B Danquah is not a founding father of this country.
Gabby quickly interrupted, stating that Dr. Omane Boamah had no record to back up his claim. Then he replied that Dr. Omane’s reasoning is complete nonsense.
The presenter of the show, Samson Lardy, intervened and asked Otchere-Darko to leave the set as the tension reached a breaking point.
The host emphasized the need of apologizing for using unacceptable words on national television.
Despite apologizing to viewers and listeners, Otchere-Darko did not apologize for the phrase “stupidity” used in response to Dr. Omane.
This rejection triggered more intense debate among the show’s panelists.
Otchere-Darko preferred to leave rather than apologize since the host insisted on an apology. He removed he removed his microphones and left the studio, much to the amazement of the panelists and spectators.
