A suspicious payment of GHS 187 million to a private business named West-blue has drawn the attention of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, which is warning the administration about the issue.
The Minority claims that despite West-blue not having a contract with the government, government officials and their allies have been using threats to compel public agencies to pay West-blue.
The minority said at a press conference organized by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that these close allies of the administration are illegally draining the public coffers.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and other state entities were forewarned not to make any payments associated with this case by Mr. Ablakwa.
The Minority has called attention to the fact that the payment in issue is unlawful and has requested the President to step in and stop any money from being used against the interests of the state.
Additionally, they highlighted that any future administration led by the National Democratic Congress will hold individuals responsible for such transactions accountable.
The Minority has formally reported the problem to Parliament, asked for an inquiry, and is demanding that the responsible government officials and associates be held accountable.
