Ibrahim Baba Bukhari, the NPP’s Bono East Regional Chairman, was involved in a horrifying vehicle accident at Akomfode in the Assin North District and is currently in serious condition.
According to reports, Mr. Bukhari was returning from a campaign trip in Assin Ninkyiso and was travelling in the direction of Assin Fosu when the motorbike he was riding collided with the back of a Daewoo truck with the registration number GX-3489-14 that was being escorted by staff from the Assin Fosu branch of the forestry commission.
According to eyewitness accounts, the collision happened when he hurriedly attempted to pass the Daewoo truck.
He was taken for immediate medical attention to the neighbourhood CHPS facility and afterwards sent to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
Due of the seriousness of the injuries, the medical staff at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu referred the patient to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for additional care. This required the use of a military aircraft.
When GhanaWeb sought to get confirmation from the party hierarchy regarding the occurrence, they remained mum.
However, a complaint made by NPP officials to the police station revealed that the forestry commission’s vehicle instead reportedly struck the chairman’s motorbike while pursuing a suspected wood-carrying vehicle, according to our sources.
Nana Kwabena Agyapong, the manager of Assin Fosu Forestry, refuted the assertion that the commission’s vehicle had struck the motorcyclist.
He had faith that the police would determine the truth after conducting a thorough investigation.
