A National Service member was killed in the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region.
According to reports, the deceased, known as Gowugade Denis, was tragically shot while on his farm with his family. No one has been apprehended in connection with the crime.
Bright Lenwah, Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, termed the occurrence as sad in an interview on Joy FM’s MiddayNews on Saturday.
“It is very disheartening to wake from time to time to hear of such incidents,” he added.
He stated that officials were working hard to rethink and adapt their approaches in order to avert such events in the future.
In a related event, sources indicate that the enraged youth who earlier protested at the office and house of the District Chief Executive for Kadjebi, Wilson Agbanyo, over the murder of two children have reportedly trashed the COCOBOD office in Papase, Oti Region.
The facility’s ECG meters, as well as other lighting systems, have been vandalized.
The origin of the incident is unknown, however it is thought to be tied to previous demonstrations and disturbances in the neighborhood over the deaths of two Yadzo youths.
As a result, military forces have been dispatched to the district to maintain law and order.
