Macy Gray’s daughter, Aanisah Hinds, has taken legal action against her brother, Tracy Melvin Hinds, by filing for a restraining order. The action comes after Tracy allegedly threatened Aanisah and physically struck their mother, the renowned singer Macy Gray.
“Tracy got into a physical altercation with my mum,” the 29-year-old alleged in a court request filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday and obtained by Page Six.
“He followed her and harassed her as he always does when he drinks.”
In court documents, Aanisah alleged that during the altercation, her boyfriend, Cornel Pearson, attempted to intervene, but Tracy, aged 28, allegedly responded by striking him.
“We waited for the cops to come while he continued to bang on the doors of our rooms looking for confrontation,” she further alleged.
Aanisah said her younger brother continued to “harass” his family and even “pushed” her.
According to court documents, the graphic designer claimed that when police arrived, she was advised to file a restraining order due to the lack of video evidence of the incident, which allegedly occurred on a Saturday.
Aanisah emphasized in the filing that Tracy exhibits abusive behavior whenever he drinks, typically on a monthly basis. She expressed fear of her brother, especially since she is expecting her first child in September, stating she does not want Tracy to have access to her home. Gray’s representatives declined to comment on the matter.
However, Aanisah’s report suggests the singer, 56, supports her daughter’s decision, indicating that Gray “wants him gone and will confirm.”
The Los Angeles Superior Court issued a temporary restraining order until the next court hearing on February 27. Macy Gray, also known as Natalie McIntyre, has three children, including Aanisah, Tracy, and Happy Hinds, with her ex-husband Tracy Hinds.
Their marriage lasted only two years, from 1996 to 1998. Gray expressed surprise in February 2022 when she discovered that her children were fans of her music, as reported by People magazine.
“They are, and I didn’t even know it,” the Sweet Baby singer said. “One time we were in the car, and one of my songs came on, and my kids were in the back, and they just knew every word.”
