Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was allowed to show his feelings when he testified before the parliamentary committee, according to lawyer Alfred Papa Darkwa, the attorney for Superintendent George Asare, one of the police officers accused of participating in the alleged plot to assassinate the Inspector General of Police.
He asserts that showing emotions, particularly in trying situations, is only normal for a human being.
“As a human being, it is normal for him to be emotional. All the things happening mean his integrity is at stake, and it’s normal for him to be emotional” Mr. Darkwa said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, on Wednesday.
The IGP’s cordial meetings with the police personnel, he said, were not contrived as has been suggested.
Mr. Darkwa also stated that his client is prepared to work with the committee to resolve the issue.
When he went before the committee, the IGP vehemently defended his innocence and categorically refuted all of the “baseless, false, and wild” accusations made against him by his accusers.
