When the legislative committee looking into the alleged plan against him went on hiatus, Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare extended an olive branch to his accusers.
Superintendent George Asare, one of the officers who is purportedly looking to leave the Service, and the police chief had a cordial conversation.
Photos posted on social media showed the IGP conversing warmly with Superintendent Gyebi and Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah, whom he had referred to as brothers.
The appearance of three witnesses—COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendents George Asare and Gyebi—was first disputed by the IGP’s legal team.
After some back and forth, however, committee chairman Samuel Atta Akyea overturned the complaint and stated that the IGP would not be harmed by their presence.
The tension was relieved during the brief break as the IGP cheerfully engaged with his coworkers.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, appeared before the committee probing a leaked plot to remove him yesterday, Tuesday, September 12.
