Kyeiwaa, also known as Rose ‘Akua Ataa’ Mensah, has returned to Ghana after spending a decade in the United States. The Kumawood actress, who gained fame for her role in the popular movie ‘Kyeiwaa,’ shared her struggles abroad in an interview on her YouTube channel. She talked about doing menial jobs like dishwashing and selling food at an eatery to make ends meet. Despite her challenges, Kyeiwaa is excited to be back home and open to any possible movie roles should any producer want her service.
In her interview, Kyeiwaa also offered advice on how to revive the Ghanaian movie industry’s former glory. She believes that industry players and stakeholders should come together as one, support each other, and help restore the craft. This suggestion could be beneficial for the industry, which has seen a decline in recent years.
Kyeiwaa relocated to the United States after an abortive wedding with Daniel Osei in 2015, which caused her heartbreak. Although the plan was to have a church wedding later on, shortly after the marriage, Kyeiwaa discovered that Osei was already married to another woman and had children with her. Devastated by the news, Kyeiwaa ended the marriage just four days after the ceremony.
However, she found love again and tied the knot in a traditional ceremony in 2020 with Mr Michael Kissi Asare in a private ceremony attended by close family relations and friends. Her return to Ghana is a welcome development for the Ghanaian movie industry, as her presence could inspire other talented actresses and actors to stay in the industry and contribute to its growth.
For the most part, Kyeiwaa’s story is a reminder that success requires perseverance, determination, and hard work. Her experience shows that even in the face of challenges, one can still achieve their goals if they remain focused and dedicated. As Kyeiwaa re-enters the Ghanaian movie industry, her story could serve as an inspiration to others who may be facing similar challenges.
