Asante Kotoko CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, has dismissed rumours of a rift with the club’s board of directors. There have been reports that Amponsah has lost the support of the board headed by Dr. Kwame Kyei. However, the CEO has denied these claims and has stated that he has always shown respect to the board. Amponsah added that he has a good relationship with most of the board members, and he does not expect everyone to love him.

The Kotoko CEO emphasized that he has never disrespected anyone in his life and will never be arrogant because he lost two brothers who did not wake up from their sleep. He spoke about the issue during an interview on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Despite coming into the season as defending champions, Kotoko has struggled to make an impact this year. The team failed to win the FA Cup and is currently unlikely to win the Ghana Premier League, as they trail league leaders Aduana Stars by eight points with only four matches remaining. Kotoko has only managed to win two out of their last seven games and faces relegated side Kotoku Royals on Sunday in Dawu.

For the most part, the team’s poor performance has been attributed to poor player recruitment, injuries, and a lack of tactical direction from the technical bench. The CEO has previously promised to build a solid team for Kotoko, but the team’s performance this season has fallen short of expectations.

In a nutshell, Amponsah’s comments about his relationship with the board have laid to rest the rumours of a rift between the two parties. However, the CEO needs to work towards rebuilding the team to ensure that they perform better in the upcoming seasons. The team’s loyal supporters deserve a better showing, and Kotoko needs to work towards meeting their expectations.
