In an effort to offer their condolences for the death of his wife Theresa, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and her family visited former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his Peduase home on Thursday.
Following a lengthy illness, the former first lady Theresa Kufuor passed away on Sunday, October 1.
Along with her daughters, Zanetor and Amina Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle, Fritz Baffour, MP, Madam Sylvia Ahorlu, and Mr. Kobina Andoh Amoakwa, Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings was attended by these individuals.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Fritz Baffour informed President Kufuor that the delegation had paid him a courtesy call to express their condolences for the untimely death of his beloved wife.
The former president Kufuor took the opportunity to explain the series of circumstances that culminated in Mrs. Theresa Kufuor’s passing and expressed gratitude to Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings and her team for their expression of sympathy.
In addition, former president Kufuor guided the delegation on a trip down memory lane, recalling the events leading up to his 1961 first meeting with his wife.
President Kufuor was accompanied to the meeting by Mr. Kwabena Taylor, the head of Mrs. Theresa Kufuor’s family, Mr. Kwabena Osei Adubofour, Mr. Adu Acheampong, and Nana Kwabena Mensah, the chief of Dabaa, the president’s hometown.
After saying hello to Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, and a sizable legislative group who had visited President Kufuor earlier left the building.
