King Faisal Football Club has advanced to the semi-final stage of the MTN FA Cup competition after a thrilling encounter against Aduana FC at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese. The match, watched by a large number of football fans, saw King Faisal come from behind twice before winning the penalty shootout 3-1 after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, King Faisal found themselves trailing in the 40th minute when Aduana’s Stephen Badu Anokye scored from Emmanuel Gyamfi’s cross. However, King Faisal responded quickly when Benjamin Bature converted a penalty two minutes later following a foul on Godfred Asiama in the box.

Both teams showed great attacking intent in the second half, with Aduana retaking the lead through Frank Owusu’s header in the 78th minute. But once again, King Faisal responded, with Bature scoring his second goal of the game five minutes later to level the scoreline once again.

Extra time couldn’t separate the two teams, with either able to score a winner. It all came down to the penalty shootout, where King Faisal held their nerve to score three spot-kicks, while Aduana could only convert one.

King Faisal will now progress to the semi-finals of the competition, where they will face tough opposition in their bid to win the coveted MTN FA Cup.
