Julia Roberts shared a rare and affectionate photo with her husband, Danny Moder, on Instagram to celebrate his 55th birthday.
“Happy Birthday to this amazing man who lights up our world,” the Pretty Woman star, 56, wrote on Instagram.
The picture captures Roberts smiling as she leans in closely, gazing lovingly into the cinematographer’s eyes. Moder, dressed in a casual long-sleeve shirt, rests his hands on Roberts’ shoulders, creating an intimate and romantic moment between the couple.
The Erin Brockovich star keeps her romance out of the spotlight, though she did express her feelings for Moder on the US Today program in December.
“It all starts with Danny Moder, you know?” she told Hoda Kotb. “He’s just really our anchor and our person. And in the most beautiful way, [he’s] the captain of our ship. Truly.”
In celebration of Danny Moder’s 55th birthday, Julia Roberts shared a rare and affectionate photo on Instagram. While expressing love, Roberts humorously noted that Moder shouldn’t receive all the credit for keeping their family together.
“[I’m] not, like, giving it all away,” she said with a laugh. “It’s just that for me, understanding how deeply-felt life could be, really started with him.”
The couple, who met in 2000 during the filming of “The Mexican,” got married in July 2002 after both of their previous relationships ended. They share three children: 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and 16-year-old son Henry. Despite the initial circumstances, Roberts and Moder have remained strong as a couple.
Julia Roberts and Danny Moder met in 2000 while working on the film “The Mexican.” At that time, Roberts was dating Benjamin Bratt, and Moder was married to Vera Steimberg. Following the end of both their previous relationships, the Oscar winner and Emmy nominee tied the knot in July 2002.
They have remained strong as a couple since then. Roberts celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary with an emotional tribute post last year and marked their 20th anniversary a year prior with a photo of the couple sharing a kiss.
“TWENTY #can’tstopsmiling#can’tstopkissing,” she captioned the PDA picture in July 2022.
Moder also honoured their long-lasting love that year, writing on social media, “Today we start our 20th year of marriage. This photo was on a dusty road before that big idea … just holding on to this beautiful girl one day at a time. One epic day at a time.”
Roberts has said that the life she and Moder have created together has been a “dream come true.”
“When I’m not working, [being a homemaker] is my full-time job,” she said on CBS This Morning in October 2022.
“It isn’t rainbows and kittens every day, but it does bring me a lot of joy.”
Roberts continued, “The life that I have built with my husband, [and] the life that we’ve built with our children, that’s the best stuff. To come home at the end of the day, triumphantly, to them.”
