Model Jesinta Franklin, the wife of retired AFL star Lance “Buddy” Franklin, took to Instagram to announce the passing of her grandfather, Arthur.
In her heartfelt tribute, she shared some cherished memories of Arthur and emphasized the closeness of her family. The post featured a series of photos spanning decades, including moments of the family remembering Arthur at a local nursery and during lunch.
“Farewell Arthur 💔 On Thursday morning we lost our Grandfather, Arthur,” Franklin wrote.
“He never wanted to be called anything other than ‘Arthur’ and that’s how we fondly knew him all our lives.
“Arthur and Gran lived with us for almost as long as I can remember, we were and still are a very close family who grew up all together under the one roof.”
“We have spent the last four days celebrating and reminiscing on Arthur’s life … lots of tears, laughter, good food (we of course had a pavlova for you Arthur!) card games, listening to Elvis and a visit to the local nursery so we could plant a special plant for you right next to Gran’s rose.
“You are finally reunited with Gran in heaven, we knew how much you missed her and how lonely the last three years have been for you.
“As promised, we will return you both to Aotearoa this year,” she said, referring to the Maori name for New Zealand.
“Take care of each other, wherever you are, and we’ll take care of one another here on Earth until we all meet again 🤍🤍.”
Friends of the model flocked to the comments section to show their support.
“Sending you so much love … Arthur sounds like a wonderful man and grandfather. I’m sure he will be smiling down on you with Nan ❤️ may he rest in peace xx,” one said.
“I’m so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Arthur 🤍 🕊️,” added another.
