Aquaman star Jason Momoa clarified his remarks after they were misinterpreted in the midst of his divorce from actress Lisa Bonet. Momoa addressed the misconception about being “homeless” after his divorce from Lisa Bonet.
“I’m just houseless. I’m not homeless,” the Aquaman star jokingly told People in a new interview.
“I have a nice trailer,” he added. “Everyone’s like, ‘Jason Momoa’s homeless.’ I’m like, ‘Relax. I got a f***ing sleeping bag.’”
Contrary to the impression created by his recent comments, Momoa explained that he is genuinely “excited” about the prospect of buying a house “one day.” He playfully added that people will be surprised when he eventually makes the decision to purchase a home.
Speaking with the outlet, he theorised that people would say, “‘Jason Momoa bought a home. Holy sh*t. He’s got a pillow now.’”
The misunderstanding stemmed from an interview Momoa had with Entertainment Tonight last week, where he discussed how the nature of his work led to a nomadic lifestyle.
“I don’t even have a home right now,” he said to the outlet. “I live on the road.”
To elaborate further, the actor and father of two, whom he shares with Bonet, mentioned that his recent travels across the United States are related to the filming of an upcoming docuseries titled “On the Roam.”
“I’m always in these weird places,” Momoa said, adding that fans have been shocked to see him pop up in their small towns. “It happens all the time. They’re like, ‘What the hell are you doing in our hometown?’
“I love the idea of just being with everyday people and doing my craft, which is filming, and then showing them. And so, I think through doing that for so long, I got to be curious about it.”
Despite the release of the docuseries on Max scheduled for January 18, Momoa’s travels will continue, as he is set to fly to New Zealand for the filming of Minecraft.
In the preceding week, the 44-year-old Fast X star and the 56-year-old Bonet finalized their divorce shortly after the Cosby Show star filed. According to court documents, Bonet requested joint physical and legal custody of their children, Lola (16) and Nakoa-Wolf (15). Both Momoa and Bonet had been separated for two years before filing for divorce.
“We share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage,” they announced in a joint statement posted to Instagram at the time.
“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
Momoa has recently been romantically linked to Eiza González. The pair was observed riding a motorcycle together in Malibu, California, in July 2022.
