Isaac Adongo, a member of parliament for Bolgatanga Central, has challenged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president, to a discussion on Ghana’s economy and its plans for digitalization.
Dr. Bawumia has not improved the economy during his six years in office, claims the ranking member of the Finance Committee of Parliament.
On June 21, Mr. Adongo told the media in Parliament that he was ready to take on Dr. Bawumia on matters pertaining to the economy.
He said that the Vice President may pick the location and moderator of the discussion and engage him in it.
He argued that his (Dr. Bawumia’s) failures to manage the economy had forced him to turn into a “Yahoo boy.”
“Now that the economy has beaten you, you’ve moved to Yahoo and claim to be implementing digitalization. He ought to provide us with information on his experience creating digital infrastructure. only one. Tell him that the days are long gone when we were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since we didn’t know him.
He has experience now. Wake him up from sleep whenever he is prepared. He has the option to pick the location, the moderator, and even the books he wants to use as a resource. If Bawumia wants to dispute his viewpoints and understanding of the economics and digitalization, just tell me when I’m awake and we’ll meet. Every careless and dishonest comment he makes would be met with a response from us.
The second-term congressman said that he would not hesitate if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) chose him to be their leader going into the 2024 elections.
He was eager to point out that in the run-up to the election, he must be factual in his words.
“If NPP chooses him as their flagbearer, it is their decision; nonetheless, he must be factual. The people of Ghana must not be taken for granted, he continued.
