Inauguration of State-of-the-Art Circuit Court in Assin Kyekyewere Brings Justice to the Doorsteps of Citizens

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Kwesi Anin-Yeboah, has officially inaugurated a new state-of-the-art circuit court in Assin Kyekyewere, located in the Assin South District of the Central Region. The court building, funded by the District Assembly through its common fund, is equipped with modern amenities, including a registrar’s office, bailiffs and docket rooms, a residence for the judge, an information and communication (ICT) room, and a standby generator for uninterrupted power supply.

The newly constructed circuit court is the first of its kind spanning across the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region, New Edubiase in the Adansi South District, through Assin Fosu Municipality, Assin South District to Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese-District, all in the Central Region. This move has brought great relief to the people of Assinman and other neighboring communities who previously had to travel far to access a circuit court.

During the inauguration, Chief Justice Kwesi Anin-Yeboah advised the staff who would be posted to work at the new court to protect the facilities and equipment at their disposal. He emphasized the judiciary’s commitment to building an efficient and quality justice system that would ensure litigants and citizens have access to justice delivery.

Rev. John Ntim-Fodjor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South District, traditional leaders, religious bodies, and members of the community witnessed the inauguration of the Kyekyewere circuit court. The MP expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for his immense investment in effective justice delivery. He urged residents not to take the law into their own hands but to report all cases to the police for due process to ensure fairness.

For the most part, the inauguration of the Kyekyewere circuit court will help bring justice to the doorsteps of citizens in the region. The construction of this court represents a significant investment in the justice system and will undoubtedly help to improve access to justice for the local population.

Traditional leaders must not interfere with justice delivery, but instead, support the court to administer justice to ensure law and order in the region. The people of Assin Kyekyewere and the surrounding communities can now access justice more conveniently, which will have a positive impact on their lives.
