The House of Representatives is now in session, and the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, has invited traditional leaders and chiefs to attend in order to evaluate the work of their elected representatives.
This request was made by the speaker on June 22, 2023 at a parliamentary session.
In order to promote accountability and uphold the rule of law within the legislative body, he highlighted how crucial it is for these visits.
In his remarks, Speaker Bagbin expressed the hope that chiefs and other traditional officials should personally watch the work that their elected members of parliament are doing.
Even our commanders, he hoped, would have some free time to drop by and see how their offspring were faring back home.
He claimed that in order to preserve peace and order, the institution of the traditional leaders of the House of Representatives might be employed as a line of defence.
In terms of supporting law and order, I believe the speaker stands to gain from it. When your mothers—the kings—are there, you will undoubtedly act differently, I can assure you of that. In light of the fact that this is their home, we kindly encourage everyone to join us.
