I’m Ghana’s hope – Akoto Afriyie

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed confidence in winning the November 4, 2023, presidential primary.

Dr. Akoto emphasized his desire to diversify Ghana’s agriculture industry through all-encompassing policies and initiatives to support his claim.

He emphasized the need of this strategy for reviving the national economy and easing Ghanaians’ ongoing sufferings.

On September 13, 2023, after obtaining the third spot on the ballot, Dr. Akoto told reporters at his campaign headquarters that he is Ghana’s glimmer of hope.

He has asked NPP delegates to support him heavily despite external pressure and coercion.

“I am more motivated than ever to carry the NPP’s flag and ultimately secure power for the party. Among all the candidates vying for the NPP flagbearer role, who presents a vision more compelling than mine? My aspirations for the NPP and for Ghana instill hope, and that’s why hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians are urging me to press on and fight until I bring power to them. I can’t let them down,” he affirmed.

He added, “I am Ghana’s hope. I have already outlined the broader strokes of my vision. As the campaign advances, numerous Ghanaians have assured me of their support, and I’m not retreating.”

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Dr. Akoto, a former two-term representative for Kwadaso in the Ashanti region, finished fourth in the NPP Special Delegates Conference.

Dr. Akoto plans to step up his campaigning while adjusting his tactics in the lead-up to the NPP’s primary on November 4.

In this much awaited presidential election, almost 200,000 party delegates are slated to cast their votes.

The Akoto campaign team is attempting to win more than 50% of the votes, an important threshold that will determine who would lead NPP in the general elections in 2024.
