One of the police officers brought before the committee of parliament looking into the IGP video leak has denied knowing key witness Daniel Bugri Naabu in the alleged conspiracy to remove the IGP.
Bugri Naabu claimed he phoned the officer on the phone, though his name was not stated in the recording, as part of the plan to see the president after a previous engagement with his coworkers.
But Sup. Eric Emmanuel Gyebi claims he has never spoken to him about any matter.
Although he had a long-standing acquaintance with the other two implicated police officials, the director of the Cyber Crime Unit and Child Protection at CID Headquarters said that he was not a part of the scheme to remove the IGP.
Even though his voice is not audible on the recording that was released, he expressed astonishment that Bugri Naabu had accused him during his testimony.
His evidence runs counter to Bugri Naabu’s assertions that the tape’s contents are authentic.
After being interrogated by the committee for an hour, he was then provisionally released.
