Political parties, particularly the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), are making sure that the election would be held in a free and fair manner, therefore it appears that the 2024 election will be a tough one.

Bryan Acheampong, a member of parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, asserts that the NPP will rebuff any attempts by the NDC to intimidate or harass its supporters ahead of the general election.

Bryan Acheampong said in a speech to party supporters on Saturday, April 8, 2023, during a health walk around Mpraeso’s main streets, “The NPP will prove to the NDC that they have the men should they do anything foolish on election day.”

The NPP MP declared, “We will show NDC that we have the men if they want to do intimidate, harass us, or do anything dumb during the 2024 elections,” to yells and cheers from the party faithful.

“We won’t cede control to NDC, that won’t happen. We’ll employ any strategy to keep NPP in power, he declared.

Recall that on March 13, 2023, former president John Mahama made similar remarks, warning that if the government tries to coerce and persecute NDC supporters, the NDC will match the New Patriotic Party boot for boot in the 2024 elections.

He declared that NDC will exercise extreme caution at the polling places in the 2024 general elections.

This was expressed by John Dramani Mahama while addressing party members in the Bono East Region’s Tain and Banda constituency.
