Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister for environment, science, technology, and innovation, has declared he will turn down any future ministerial appointments from any administration.

He clarified that although he is still involved in politics, he would stop serving as a cabinet member.

“To accept a ministerial appointment, no, it will never happen again,” he declared.

According to Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, he is unfazed by people and lawsuits brought against him as a result of the “galamsey” report.

“I am not scared. What is bigger than God? Is a heart surgeon afraid? I have been through worse. I fear God, I respect people but I’m not afraid of humans. And you cannot intimidate me,” he said on Accra-based UTV.

He exhorted public servants to conduct themselves honestly and righteously on a daily basis.

In a report, the former Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on unlawful Mining named officials as those who, when he was Environment Minister, he said, thwarted his efforts to combat unlawful mining.

Many members of the public feel the galamsey struggle is a lost cause because several of the people he identified in the report have denied any wrongdoing.
