If elected President in the 2024 elections, former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has stated he will reconsider the Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
He stated that it is crucial to examine the policy after seven years of implementation in an interview that aired on UTV on Tuesday.
“I will review Free SHS, we have done it for seven years, You cannot implement a programme for seven and not review it, so when I come there will be a comprehensive review of the free SHS. The original idea is good and I commend Akufo-Addo for it, but it has to be reviewed,” Mr Kyerematen said.
Mr. Kyerematen continued by outlining his goals for the educational field and stressing the importance of a thorough evaluation of the Free SHS policy.
He continued by saying that his administration would not only make sure that the program guaranteed access to education, but would also raise the standard of instruction in Ghana.
Increased funding for infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development was stressed by Mr. Kyerematen.
He emphasized the significance of developing a comprehensive educational system that equips pupils to face both academic and real-world issues.
