In the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Ayawaso West Wuogon district, Fred Nuamah was running against John Dumelo. He has stated that his friendship with Dumelo led to his decision to resign from the campaign.
Mr. Nuamah has said that his political aspirations have caused him to lose his brother, and he is not happy about this.
The movie producer said it was crucial for him to act right away to mend their friendship during a Dwaso Nsem interview on Adom FM.
“We have a great relationship and from the beginning, it was quite difficult. I was losing my brother and that is not what family is for. So I have to quickly take a decision to win my brother back,” he said.
A few months ago, Mr. Nuamah raised eyebrows and caused a stir by’stealing’ the position from his really close buddy John Dumelo.
Many urged him to stand aside for Mr. Dumelo, who ran for the NDC and received 37,778 votes to Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 39,851 votes in the 2020 election.
However, Fred said that it was too late for him to resign because he had spoken to his buddy Dumelo about his choice and received his approval.
He continued by expressing amazement at Mr. Dumelo’s about-face because it was obvious and unmistakable that he was no longer interested in running for the Ayawaso seat and had instead chosen to support Guan/SALL.
Following the development, Mr. Dumelo made it clear that his friendship with Mr. Nuamah, with whom he has been close for nearly 20 years, has been replaced by a completely professional one.
“If I see him, I will say hi and ask how he is, and move on,” Mr Dumelo stated, adding that he didn’t think Mr Nuamah would behave the way he currently is if he were still a true friend.
In an intriguing turn of events, Mr. Nuamah wrote to the NDC on August 7, 2023, announcing his choice to drop out of the contest and back Mr. Dumelo.
